Great finish to the first month of training at the Thorpe & Egham Half Marathon in a new PB of 1hr44m39 ! Very happy with that ! Even happier that Dry January has now ended! 120km done in the last month with 11 valuable hours on the road, feels like a solid start. Thanks to everyone that has kindly donated so far to the MS Society for my London Marathon run. Overwhelmed with the response over the first week and extremely happy to be over £1200 already. If you do want to donate the link is in my bio or can copy from below. https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DanielBrough1 Cheers Dan #mssuperstars #mssociety #multiplesclerosis #marathontraining #londonmarathon #thorpehalf #virginlondonmarathon #running #halfmarathon #thorpeandeghamhalf

✨ OPTIMISM ✨hopefulness and confidence about the future or the success of something✨ • SECOND 🏃🏻‍♀️ Half Marathon in the bag – getting the miles in the legs – I managed to shave 🪒 10mins off of my first Half Marathon time !! But how !?! OPTIMISM✨ • I knew I wanted to better my time from 1:51 – so being optimistic I purposefully put myself in the 1:40 wave of runners … I did not finish with them !! That’s okay. I am not a runner I’m a triathlete. • But I don’t like excuses. I let the 1:40’s run off around mile 6 – this is where I struggled, in mile 6/8 (battling with ‘why have I done this conversations’) I got to mile 9, 9/10 is where I found my own rhythm and plodded along the M25. As I approached mile 11 a feisty Rodger encouraged me to run with him to the end – I could not let Rodger down (I don’t know Rodger he is just a man I met at mile 11) – with the last 200m & the finish line in sight I opened up my stride for the final run down. 🏃🏻‍♀️ • 1:41 on the clock ⏰ – I was OPTIMISTIC that even though I had let the 1:40runners go I would make 1:45 – but 1:41 🤩 • Hi my name Emily Jayne & I AM PROUD of my achievement 🙋🏻‍♀️ • Moral of the story – don’t let your mind underestimate your capability !! ✌🏼💖😃 #halfmarathon #ironman #ironman2020 #pb #optimism #selfbelief #positiveenergy #reebokrunning

Boom! Went for a run this morning and boom! Got a sub 1h40 time at a half marathon. Day 33 of the decade saw me take on the Thorpe and Egham course in Surrey. Billed as a flat course…it wasnt. This was hilly in places and lots of long drags. However I kept the pace the same throughout apart from sprinting the last 400 meters. However lots of positives and the interesting fact for me is I got a faster time than I did at the World Champs half marathon in Valencia back in 2018 by over an minute. That course was very flat! Shows the fitness and diet is doing something this year. So my first sub-1h40 time at 13.1 miles/21km since 2016 i think. Have to check that. And opps…forgot the gels today. So BOOM! Still retired but still having fun running. Sending out the positive vibes and love. Time: 01-39-38. Position: 181st out of 896 runners. Average pace per mile: 7:37. Kcal burnt: 1859 #thorpehalf #running #fitness #training #workout #parkrun #parkrunuk #loveparkrun #stevenage #stevenagestriders #runningbuddies #fitnessmotivation #runnersofinstagram #igrunners #runfree #runhappy #beatyesterday #runlove #everybodyrun #ukrunchat #runnersworld #runningcommunity #me #ukrunners #londonrunners

Today was a battle… and I’m not sure that I won. 16 miles total at @runthroughuk Egham & Thorpe Half Marathon. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The plan… 3 mile warm up, 3 x 3 miles at 8min mile pace with 1 mile at 9min mile between sets and 2 mile cool down. What actually happened was I hit the paces on the first set, effort was there during the second set but none of the paces, and bailed during the third set (felt weirdly dizzy). The most worrying thing was how much effort that pace was. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So now we wait to see what the blood test results are, focus a lot on fueling during the run and try not to panic that Manchester is 9 weeks away! Hope your run went better than mine today! @runthroughuk place gifted #halfmarathon #manchestermarathon #roadtoBoston #projectBQ #runningworkout

New half marathon PB – 2:13:53! 😁 🏃🏼‍♀️ . . This morning I tackled Thorpe and Egham half marathon, despite knowing I could run the distance the pre race nerves were there. It took me a couple of miles to settle into the run but I tried to stick to the advice of my coach @runwithjamescoaching and run at a steady pace for the first half and push a bit harder in the second, all the inclines meant it was a similar pace throughout but I smashed it! I still can’t quite believe that I’ve taken 4 minutes 14 seconds off my previous half marathon PB especially as I only achieved that last October! The road to London is looking good although I still can’t quite comprehend how I’m going to run double today’s distance! . . A massive thanks you to @this_is_colee for coming on a road trip to support me and getting some action shots! . . #thorpehalf #runner #running #halfmarathon #runnersofinstagram #runnergirl #londonmarathontraining #chicagomarathontraining #rundisneytraining #jumpshot
